Anne Løddesøl, an MA student in European intellectual history and culture at the University of Oslo, will present her thesis project on De Neocosmo (c. 1120) by Honorius Augustodunensis (c. 1080–1150). In this work, Honorius interprets the biblical creation narrative through the perspective of angels, introducing the concept of tempora aeterna (eternal times). Løddesøl argues that this notion represents both an image of heaven and an idealized framework for monastic life in Honorius’ theological thought.
Anne Løddesøl specializes in European intellectual history, focusing on medieval theology and philosophy. During her research stay in Rome, she is delving deeper into Honorius’ writings, examining how his views on angelic temporality shaped medieval conceptions of monastic and spiritual existence.
De Neocosmo is a commentary on the Genesis creation story, written by Honorius Augustodunensis, a theologian and philosopher of the 12th century. The text uniquely explores creation from an angelic perspective, blending biblical exegesis with speculative theology. This work reflects broader medieval concerns about time, eternity, and the spiritual life.
